San Francisco’s largest park, Golden Gate Park covers 1,013 acres and is 3 miles long by 1/2-mile wide, larger than New York City’s Central Park. Golden Gate Park is also home to the De Young Museum, San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum, the Conservatory of Flowers. Golden Gate Park also offers gardens, a bandstand concourse, the Japanese Tea Garden, a golf course, and the world-famous California Academy of Science and Steinhart Aquarium. Also visible from the Golden Gate Park loop is Japan Town, Alamo Square and their Victorian houses (the famous Painted Ladies) and the epicenter of counter-culture around Haight Street.
